Kim’s plan for Batley and Spen
1. More police to fight crime and anti-social behaviour
I will fight for more officers here in Batley and Spen and tackle anti-social behaviour by:
- Focusing on neighbourhood policing
- Targeting drug dealers
- Tougher punishments for reckless drivers and speeding in residential areas
2. Safer, better roads
The people of Batley and Spen deserve safer roads. It’s time to fix them. I will make sure Batley and Spen gets its fair share of the council’s new £22 million roads fund.
3. Revitalised town centres
I will work with Kirklees Council on how best to spend its £4 million small towns fund in Batley and Spen.
4. Cleaner streets and protected green spaces
To keep our communities clean and green I will:
- Stand with local residents on major planning
- Protect our greenbelt, improve parks and create more sports pitches
- Lead a local community fightback against litter
5. Good jobs for local people
To create good jobs for people in Batley and Spen, I will:
- Launch an annual jobs fair
- Train and retrain
- Link young people with apprenticeships and skilled jobs
